Purpose
Communication is consistently rated as the number one skill for success, regardless of age, social background, or career choice.
If we help kids communicate well early on, we will set them for lifelong success.
Who is this course for?
Speak Up is designed to help K-12 students overcome challenges in communication that could come from:
Shyness or quietness
Anxiety or stage fright
Overexcitement or excessive talking
Lack of practice (e.g., home-schooling)
Neurodivergence (e.g., ADHD, autism)
Curriculum
Tailored for every stage
Speak Up groups have 3-7 students of similar age that engage in tasks, games, and activities appropriate for their level.
Years 1-2
- Build superhero confidence
- Achieve emotional control
- Speak clearly and make sense
Years 3-6
- Tell good stories and make strong arguments
- Confidently speak with body and eyes
- Listen to your mates and be heard yourself
Years 7+
- Preprare and deliver confident presentations
- Develop team leadership and negotiation skills
- Learn to improvise well
