Frequently Asked Questions

What should my child bring with them?

Water bottle, nut-free snack, lunch, and recess, hat and sunscreen. Laptop or other devices will not be needed.

Each day usually starts with a brief discussion and introduction of the day’s theme. Then, students get to hands-on activities and experiments under our friendly teachers’ supervision. We sum up and share our discoveries at the end of the day and provide some free time for students to explore. There are 3 breaks: early snack, lunch, and recess, with access to an outdoor courtyard (weather permitting).

When booking our camp, you can extend the drop-off or pick-up window by 30 minutes for an extra fee. If you need to urgently pick-up or drop-off you child earlier/later on the day, please contact our staff directly to make an arrangement.

No prior experience is needed. Our activities are designed to be easy to get into for total beginners and interesting to explore for those with prior experience.

Our camp is aimed for 10-20 students, with minimum 2 staff members helping the kids.

If your child is within ~3 month of the recommended age, we believe they will have a great experience. Children that are significantly younger might struggle to keep up. Older children will still enjoy the program and get lots out of it, but it might be less interesting for them to socialise with younger children. If you are not sure, please feel free to contact us.

Yes. We never use any dangerous or toxic materials. Kids will use scissors, glue, and some messy liquids like food coloring or vinegar, so our teachers will supervise and help kids. Gloves and safety glasses may be used to teach good safety habits, but all materials are safe to handle even without safety equipment.

We strive to be as inclusive as possible. Please contact us to discuss special needs and we will make requested adjustments.

The camp is designed and ran by a Canberra scientist and educator Dr. Ivan Vinogradov. Other instructors are experienced tutors and passionate science degree students and graduates. All our staff members have Working with Children and Vulnerable registrations, and there is always a first aid certified instructor present.

Our planned activities are connected to one another, so for the best experience we recommend booking the 3-day experience. If can’t attend all three days, please contact us to arrange a partial booking.
