Develop writing, grammar, vocabulary and comprehension skills while creating and publishing your own original story
Recent NAPLAN results have highlighted ongoing concerns about Australian students’ writing skills. As children spend more time on screens and less time writing independently, strong writing, comprehension and storytelling skills matter more than ever. Young Authors is a 10-week program designed to strengthen essential English skills and help children discover that writing can actually be enjoyable.
Children will take on an exciting project: creating their own story, characters and plot, then seeing their work published in print. Yes! Every student will receive a hard copy of their finished story with images! Students will build essential English skills aligned with the Australian Curriculum, including grammar, spelling, vocabulary, comprehension, text structure and storytelling.

Many children don’t enjoy English or writing, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t creative. Young Authors helps students discover writing as a way to bring their own ideas, characters and stories to life, while building the grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills aligned with the Australian Curriculum. The goal is simple: help children enjoy learning while developing stronger English skills and achieving better results at school.
Each student gets a simple writing task to complete. This will help us establish a baseline and set a course forward.
Through a series of lessons, we will help students use proper language to describe their own world, characters, and events.
Students put together their own story and fill it with rich vocabulary. We help them edit and polish it up.
We help students finalise their work. Then we add images to it, print it out, and give you a hard copy to show off. Great work!
